BEAR Project Board Goals 2008

The Mission of the Better Environment and River Project is to

“Develop the Bear River as a Natural and Cultural Focal Point for the Community.” 

 Continue to Fill Vacant BEAR Board Positions with Volunteer Citizens that Support and have a Passion for the BEAR Project and are Willing to Serve as Committee Chairman.

 

Continue to Appoint All Board Members as Chairman over a BEARiverFest Committee

   and/or BEAR Project Committee including:

 BEARiverFest

 River Rehabilitation/Trail Extension

 Education (History, Interpretative & Conservation)

Promotion / Marketing (Website & Brochure)

Memorial Tree Grove Recognition Day

Hire a CPA and Prepare and File Past Due Non Profit 501 C-3 IRS Reports and Submit Anually and in the Future

 

Master Plan, Design and Prepare Cost Estimates to Construct the BEAR Front Entryway Project and Submit to the City Council and Private Donors for Funding.

 

Master Plan, Design and Prepare Cost Estimates to Construct the BEAR Project/BEAR River Drive Park and Play Area Project and Submit to the City Council and Private Donors for Funding.

 

Coordinate a River Access Takeout and Parking Area, Youth Baseball/Sports Fields, Main Access Road and Parking Lots into the Master Plan on the BEAR Entryway Project.

 

Continue to Plan and Design New Informational, Regulatory and Interpretative Signs.

 

Continue to Work with the Evanston Lodging Tax Board to Develop a New BEAR River Greenway Color Brochure and Interpretative Areas along the Bear River Greenway.

 

Plan, Organize, Improve Upon and Conduct a Successful BEARiverFest May 31, 2008.

 

Update the Bear River Greenway and BEARiverFest Website.

 

Submit a Capital Project Budget Request for FY 2008-09 to the City of Evanston by April 1, 2008 and Prioritize the following projects:

  1 - Continue to Repair the Asphalt Main Trail with a Concrete Cap

  2 - Design and Purchase New Informational, Regulatory and Interpretative Signs &

  Kiosk

  3 - BEAR Entryway Project - Main Access Road and Utilities

  4 - Debbie’s Bridge - River Park & Play Area

  5 - Youth Baseball/Sports Fields

  6 - Trail Extension - Bear River Drive Bridge South to County Road

  7 - Wetlands Board Walk Loop Trail

  8 - Main Trail Extension - North and South

 

Solicit and Acquire Additional Public and Private Contributions and Donations to Fund The BEAR Project including establishing a Non Profit Foundation and Endowment to Fund Specific Projects and Programs.

 

Plan a Successful BEAR Project Recognition & Memorial Day on September 13, 2008 and add a Minimum of Seven (7) Names to the BEAR Memorial Tree Grove.
